The Water Register is a public register of all water-related entitlements in Victoria.

The Water Register records water entitlements with integrity, enables proper water accounting, keeps track of the water market and produces crucial information for managing Victoria’s water resources.

A ballot process is underway to ensure equitable management of applications that affect the 4% limit on trade out of irrigation areas. The current status of the limit can be found here.

The Minister for Water has approved changes to the trading rules to allow exemptions to the 4% limit for Living Murray projects. The Trading Rules have been updated and are available here.

17 June 2010:

The Minister for Water has approved changes to the trading rules to combine two trading zones (41A and 41B) in the Thomson/Macalister water system into one. The Trading Rules have been updated and are available here.

1 June 2010:

The 100 Point Identification Check required when transferring a water share including for a limited term has been updated. The layout has changed and the list of authorised people whom can certify the form has been expanded. The form can be downloaded here.

21 May 2010:

A correction has had to be made to a small number of allocation bank accounts where too much allocation was recorded because of a system error. Letters have been express mailed to all affected account holders. Below are some Q&As on this matter.

The Minister for Water has approved changes to the trading rules that give water holders in the Broken, Thomson/Macalister, Bacchus Marsh and Werribee declared systems more opportunities to enter the water market. The Trading Rules have been updated and are available here.
